The Sabotage

January 10th, 2009 — 9:17pm

This article, deals with another aspect of product assembling. As the title suggests, it is about how you are set up to fail in your work of assembling crafts products at home right from the start. And by none other than the very company that you are working for.
Several people have tried working with assembling products and crafts at home and have had varying experiences. It is an established fact that a majority of the people who do try this work actually do not succeed.
There are several reasons attributed to this failure by the people as products are different and the company policies are different.
We have investigated several of the aspects of why product assembling is by large a controversial subject. In this article we bring forth one more opinion that belongs to certain faction of home based assemblers.
Some people claim that you are set up by the product assembling company to fail at making their craft. This is made possible by sending you raw materials that are faulty. You are a sample of the product that you to assemble which is made out of superior raw materials while the ones that are sent to you in your starter pack are not of the same high-quality. Which means that no matter how well you make your product it will never match the sample in design and workmanship.
Sometimes the techniques used in the sample are also different the same techniques are explicitly forbidden to the assembler. For example person speaks of the instance when he was trying to assemble a relatively simple product, that of a bracelet. This person says that the sample of the product had used the blob of adhesive the whole thing together. But assembler was forbidden to use any such gluing material. It was this person is expressed opinion that the bracelet was impossible to make without the use of this blob of glue.

You are forbidden by several companies to use materials of your own buying which means that you have to use the ones that they send and if they happen to be of inferior quality it goes without saying that you will find it impossible to make the craft up to the standards that the crafting company professes to have and want to maintain.

Another instance is that of a person speaking of the time when they tried to assemble a product that involved in electronic assembly. This person claims that they could not make the gadget to work the matter how hard they tried using the circuit that had been sent by the company. However when this person replaced the circuit sent to him by another circuit that he himself bought from the market gadget worked just fine. So what this person did in the end was use the circuit that he bought himself sent it to the company in our fully working condition. But to his surprise assemble electronic item was still refused on the grounds that it was not working properly and it was sent back to him for examination.
On receiving the product back this person opened up the gadget and discovered that it had already been opened at the company and tampered with.

We try and bring you as many different point of views and experiences regarding the product assembly jobs at home in order to give you a clearer picture of of what exactly is going on in this community. Product and craft assembling jobs have been touted as a great work at home opportunity but the truth is that like any other so-called opportunity they are riddled with scams. Most of the product assembling companies are dishonest untrustworthy.

By reading different reviews and opinions we hope to save you from losing a substantial sum of money these work at home offers. Some product assembling websites, electronic assembly in particular, charge a relatively high price registering with them which goes up to $200.
This kind of an offer brings up the red flags immediately. Stay as far away from them as you can.

Even if you do and that with a genuine product assembling company please realise that you are not going to make a substantial income working for them. This in spite of the tall claims that you might have read on several websites. Most of the people who are involved with craft assembling at home do it because they are fond of crafting as a hobby and not because they are hoping to make a great deal of money out of it. If making money is basic aim of getting a home based job then you should look at more realistic jobs and business options.

It’s not that it is not possible to make money working at home. But the people who are making money in this fashion do it on the basis of their skill and qualification.
Do not believe in any magical formula of get rich quick schemes that are so plentiful on the Internet. There are no get rich quick schemes there is no magical formula. If indeed someone had such a measure to make thousands of dollars every weak why would they be selling the same concept on the Internet just a few dollars? Would you? Think logically and reasonably. The same logic holds true for all the so-called home-based opportunities like data entry, envelope stuffing, form filling and so on.
These so-called jobs have the same thing in common. They promise you fantastical sums of money without requiring you to have any skill, experience or knowledge. Stay clear of of all of them.
The only people making money are the ones who are selling you these false promises.

BBB.org – Statutory Warning

January 10th, 2009 — 4:14pm

This is a notice issued by the Better Business Bureau as industry tips for all those people who are interested in working from home, and finding home based jobs and businesses. This especially applies to work at home schemes that requires you to pay registration money to join them.

Industry Tips
Work-at-Home Schemes

The following is BBB general information and is not intended as a report on any specific company.

Those who succeed by working at home have several things in common: They have training or experience in what they are doing, they work hard and efficiently, they work for a salary, or they spend time and money developing the market for their work. They have not stumbled onto a magic formula for getting rich quick. Even in this new world of telecommunications, the same old rule
applies: to be successful, you must work hard and work smart.

If you want to work at home, you have reason to be cautious. Many people are victimized by work-at-home schemes, and they are costing consumers more money than ever. The old schemes in which a consumer can lose ten or twenty dollars are still around, but there are also new schemes that rob victims of thousands of dollars. If you are tempted by work-at-home promotions offering “easy money,” remember that you have a lot at stake.

You can:

* Lose Money: Consumers have lost amounts ranging from $10 to more than $70,000.

* Damage your reputation: You may find you have unintentionally sold your customers bad or nonexistent products or services.

* Risk becoming the focus of a legal investigation: You may be held responsible if you perpetrate a fraud by promoting and selling a fraudulent product or service to others.

* Lose valuable time: You may expend a lot of effort on a work-at-home scheme that gives you nothing in return.

Be skeptical about work-at-home promotions that include statements such as:

* You can earn big money with little effort. “Earn hundreds in your spare time!”

* No experience necessary. “Our people have come from all walks of life and have succeeded with no Special Training!”

* There is a “new market” for your work. “This huge untapped market is waiting for you!”

* You need to invest only an insignificant amount of money for training or materials. “Only $29.95 will bring you thousands in earning power!”

* You will not be paid a regular salary. “Profits will start rolling in with your first completed item!”

* Don’t wait to make your decision. “Save money by making your decision today! Popular demand will force us to raise our rates soon!”

* Many others just like you have succeeded. “I was a failure until this offer changed my life!”

* You are especially privileged to learn about this opportunity. “This valuable information has not been shared with the general public before!”

Some Classic Work-at-Home Schemes are:

* Medical Billing: These schemes usually require consumers to purchase a package that includes a list of clients and software that allows them to process medical claims. However, the client list is usually from an out-of-date database, and the software often does not work and/or is unauthorized. Medical billing is a competitive field and most doctors offices process claims themselves or through established companies, not home workers.

* Envelope Stuffing: Normally, envelope stuffing involves getting a letter from the company telling you to place the same “envelope-stuffing” ad in newspapers and magazines, or to send the ad to friends and relatives. The only way you’ll get money is if someone responds to your ad.

* Assembly or Craftwork: Many of these programs require you to buy the equipment and supplies, promising payment when you return the completed work. However, operators often will not pay for the completed work, claiming the finished product does not meet the quality standards of the company.

New variations continually appear in:

* Popular magazines
* Tabloid Newspapers
* Direct mail solicitations
* Cable television infomercials
* Telephone solicitations
* Classified ads
* Hand-distributed flyers
* Business opportunity trade shows
* The Internet
* Business journals

Product Assembling – This Can Explain Everything!

December 28th, 2008 — 9:09pm
    There Is Confusion

Why is it that for every ten people who are saying that the product assembling at home does not work, you will find one person who claims that it is working for them and that they are getting paid by the company that they are working for. Go to any active forum and you will discover that this is the typical scenario. You will find new people who are high-interested in this work, who have tried and failed and then you will find those who are currently involved with it. Try to make some sense out of it? You will probably have a tough time. I am no rocket scientist, but this is my two bits of information, which I call the Balanced Theory of Fraud. It explains a lot.

    The Theory

Ask yourself the first question. If it is indeed a fraud, why are people still buying the start up kits? If this has been around for almost twenty years, why is it that there is still doubt concerning its validity? I will tell you why. Because every time you get convinced that product assembling is indeed a scam you find someone who claims that it is not and says that they have been getting paid. In addition, since we so desperately want to find genuine work at home in the middle of all the usual muck that surrounds the community of home based job and business enterprises, we jump at this seemingly genuine opportunity. After all, some one actually was paid! A rare happening on the internet.
The Blur…We see this opportunity advertised in all various mediums such as newspapers, classifieds, online and more. Despite warnings from several quarters such as the better business bureau, respected and popular web sites and forums, one cannot be hundred percent sure that they are indeed all frauds. After all they are being advertised in a national newspapers. And the fact, that all warnings From the organizations and the web sites and the forums use words like “ most” and “ Almost all” such opportunities are scams, leave a large room for doubt in one’s mind. Surely if only the most and almost all the opportunities are frauds then there are also some genuine ones. It is only a matter of looking really hard and looking for a long time to find it, right? If 95 percent of them are not real, that means that five percent of them are. The glimmer of hope refuses to die. Who can help It. Read the assemble products web sites. They all make it sound like it is the easiest work to do. String a few beads, twist a few threads, stick some paper with glue, a snip here and a stitch There and voila, You are the Master assembler of a beautiful piece of craft work in just a few minutes. Make some more of these, finish the batch and you are on your way to making hundreds of dollars a week. so, of course want to find the real companies ! Because it has to be somewhere out there, right? [Remember the words “Most” and “Almost all”?]

The Bandwagon…So what happens when one reads in a forum that some one else actually were paid to assemble a product from some company? [ Read more about the typical assembly scam where one or even to payments means nothing].
What happens is that the hundreds of other people reading the thread exclaim with joy because they have now found IT! Hey! Someone got paid!. Obviously this is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. All the hard work of searching and looking for a home base job opportunity and having to exercise and an enormously large amount of brain power to avoid getting ambushed by the scams galore, they have found the reward for their penance And hard work. We call want to jump the band wagon. And so if not all, a lot of us go ahead and buy that starter kit that is worth anything from $30.00 to $60.00. What happens next? If you have been reading this website and articles here you should be able to guess the next part.

The Reality Check…What happens is that most of us get rejected. Some of us try again and then most of us give up as well.
Some of us who had complete confidence in the quality of the product made are now convinced that the company has cheated us. We made their craft exactly as they required. [Sometimes this is impossible to do - Read more about sabotaged products]. And yet we were rejected for no apparent reason.

Let’s Play Good Samaritans..We want to share this experience with others in order to give them adequate warning before losing their money on a bogus home based opportunity. We write on forums, blogs hoping that people will learn from our experience. However, something else has happened here as well! Can you guess? I said “ Most” of us had our work rejected and the registration money pocketed. The word “ Most” has worked its magic again! While “ Almost all” the people failed, there were some who got paid!

The Circle Of Life…And for those of us who are not willing to learn from history, history will repeat itself. It is the same chain reaction all over again. Some more people see that someone is being paid by a assembling company and then they get on and join the bandwagon.
Most of them are rejected with their registration money pocketed while a few are paid again. Same thing over and over again. In addition, if we can believe the claims of the companies that they have been around for the past twenty years, then this has been going on for a PRETTY LONG TIME.

And It Makes Perfect Sense…!It just does not make sense to reject all who have joined you. For every ten people who buy A starter kit, why not reject only eight or nine of them and pay the one’s and the two’s. That too for not very long, but long enough for them to end up referring more people, give company a semblance of a good name, and order many more supplies. Then a couple of months later you go ahead and reject them as well! Therefore, the people who were paid initially actually end up making the company more money.
[Read more about how being paid by a company once or twice means absolutely nothing].

I am sorry if this sounds too much like a conspiracy theory but face it, it explains everything beautifully.

Product Assembling – Does Anyone Know Anything?

December 28th, 2008 — 9:07pm

It is a dilemma. Does anyone really know? Can anyone, or rather not anyone but a dozen of these anyone(s) stand up and say whether it is a real or not?
People are claiming its fraud, buying their kits, sending in-product- for approval, being accepted, being denied, calling eight foul play, calling it a genuine all at the same time. What is going on?

We need to get smart and really find out what is going on. However, trying to get sensible and cognitive information about this work, or rather any other work at home opportunity is indeed a difficult process. There is always a mixed bag of opinions.

While we try to compile and research all that has been said and talked about assemble jobs, the picture still remains murky. We come across people who want to assemble products at home. We want to tell them something. Something real and something that is tangible, absolute and favorable to them in the long run. Everyone says ‘be careful’ and ‘proceed with caution’ but is that really enough? Perhaps not. There should be a way to prove if this work is genuine or not. Unfortunately, there is no evidence to present on either side as of now. So what is the best we can do? We can keep searching, looking, and asking you to share your experiences and opinions with us. Perhaps we can all learn something from each other.

1) What we know so far is that the work is not easy. If you think you can choose a simple product like a bookmark and have flourishing success making it, you are mistaken. Even the simplest items may sound simple but they are not. Do not expect to get it right the first time unless you area skilled crafter and sometimes not even then. [Read more about deliberate sabotage edge of product assembly design].

2) Are the people aware of the fact that no matter how simple the product sounds, even the simplest of the crafts require careful craftsmanship? Most of the products are time consuming and most of the people cannot get past making a single batch in a whole month, unlike the claims that you can make several and earn thousands.
There people who have, at some time, tried making crafts for several companies making at the same time. Even they managed to make money only enough to get by. One of the reasons hindering the making of more than a couple of batches of crafts, apart from the sluggishness of the work, is that there is also time lost between sending the finished batch of products and the time when you receive your fresh starter kit.

3) A major complaint against product assembly has been that majority of people get their work rejected and most of them do not try to do it again. As mentioned before you do end up biting more than you can chew when you order the start up kit from a company. The craft mostly takes patience and time to finish. Some of the complicated ones have takes some people hours to finish the first time around. Some companies ask you to just make one sample and send it in for approval. If you are not able to get it right, it is supposed to be sent back to you with an appraisal report and for you to redo the item. This process is repeated until you are able get the product just right. Only then do you get down to making the whole batch. This procedure is preferable to where some companies, in fact most of them, require you to finish a complete batch of several dozen and send it in for approval. When this does not meet the approval, most of the people give up rather than go through the completely tedious process again.

4) Did you know that most of the people doing this work are doing it out of the love for it? Not because they expect to make a substantial income out of it. So if your idea is to look for a home based employment, you will be well advised by us and several others including the BBB to stay well away and look somewhere else.

5) If you are a seasoned crafter, why waste time working for other companies that will never allow you to make much money over a sustained period time anyway. Have you thought about starting about starting your own crafting business? Do you have sewing skills, woodworking skills or just skills to make wonderful craft items? There is no limit to the kinds of crafts that you can make and sell from your home. From things for the home such as linen, covers, curtains to fashion accessories like belts, hats and even shoes. Make Christmas ornaments and have a great sale over the seasonal time. Take part in fairs. Sell to local shops and craft malls. For more information regarding a home based crafting businesses, read our section on this.

6) If you are interested in having a business from home, try to tap into your knowledge and resources. Things of all the things you are good at. Think of all the things that you love to do. That is important. They say, do what you love to do and success will follow. Try to come up with a business idea that you can start from home on a small level. Try to avoid all the typical work from home internet offers that ask you to pay a registration fee.

7) If you are keenly interested in assemble jobs at home, we suggest you try to assimilate your skills as a crafter before you waste your money by ordering a start up kit from a company. Buy some craft supplies from a store like Wall Mart. They are usually well stocked and have virtually every craft supply you could want. You can also buy online. Now take the help of some craft books and make some of the crafts in them. You can even look for crafts similar to the product that you are interested in making for the company. Try fairly advanced to advanced crafts as that is the kind of work you will be doing. If you cannot make a craft that is perfect, even after repeated tries, then FORGET about doing product assembly jobs from home. Whichever companies do accept batches, accept only the PERFECT ones.

8) So you have read all and still going to give assemble jobs a try? Try to stick with the few very well known names like the NEC. There are several people working for this company. While their crafts are not simple items, they seem to be legit with their own storefront where you can pay them a visit.

Final Word: I began this post with questioning what we know and do not about product assembling from home. I hope that reading all the posts here will help you somewhat to bringing you closer to finding out the truth. Forgive the skepticism that is an undercurrent of many of the posts, but like many other people who try to find work from home, it is an approach that develops after not finding many opportunities that are real. The truth is that any work from home opportunity that is charging you at any pretext is really just not worth it most of the time. Why are they selling something to you when they already have the magic formula for making thousands of dollars at home? This applies to programs like data entry, rebate processing, paid surveys etc.
As far as product assembling is concerned, there are no records anywhere, including with the BBB, with anyone having made any money from this work for a sustained period.
It is important to be able to find people that a company currently employs. Without it, there is just not enough proof that people are actively and successfully working for it.

I believe that NEC maintains a list of the approved workers on their website. I believe that is a good and healthy practice.

Product Assembling – What Troubles Me

December 28th, 2008 — 9:06pm

What troubles me about assembling products at home jobs is that they are so many complaints and dissatisfied people who claim that they are frauds. These are not just disgruntled people but respected organizations and institutions that warn people against paying to join assemble at home jobs. Two sides of the coin, albeit uneven, are that these jobs are real and then that they are not. It is normal to have conflicting views about it by reading the various different opinions expressed about this work. What troubles me; however, are some points that are enough obvious enough to discourage any conscientious home work seeker.

What bothers me….The Better Business Bureau warns against indulging in any assembly products from home scheme Saying that they have no record nationwide to give evidence to the fact that anyone has ever made any income with this work except for, perhaps, the people putting these same advertisements. The Better Business Bureau quotes:

“Assembly or Craftwork: Many of these programs require you to buy the equipment and supplies, promising payment when you return the completed work. However, operators often will not pay for the completed work, claiming the finished product does not meet the quality standards of the company. “

They include the national ads in newspapers and classifieds in being part of such schemes, saying that the local postal authorities are continuously investigating such claims. Not only that but you also stand the risk of becoming part of an official investigation even if you have joined one in all innocence to make earn an income from home.

There are respectable and legitimate web sites like Homeworkers.org and About.com that express similar opinions. There is an extremely popular forum for Home based working mothers that has a lot of input from its members. The owner of the web site has tried several assembled at home offers and has been successful in getting her first few payments. However, this was some years ago and now her own statement is that she does not know of any real home assembly jobs.

What troubles me…. is the whole concept of independent Contract business. Why would any company ask for money from strangers on the internet over the phone, fax or e-mail to employ them when what they really want to do is hire skilled artisan and assemblers for this business? Would it not be to be more reliable to hire people whom they can actually supervise and even test before hiring?
Is this not how any business or company operates?
Our major complaint is the rejection of finish to work by the assemblers. A majority of the finished product sent by the assembler to the company is rejected. The number of rejections perhaps far outnumbers the acceptances.
Doesn’t this mean that the company is not able to hire the assemblers of the caliber of that they require?
In addition, what does this in turn means for their business?
A lot of them claim to be wholesalers with orders in the tune of hundreds of thousands. How do they expect to fill these orders if most of the work sent in to them by their workers is of substandard craftsmanship ( this being the commonest reason given for the rejection of work). Moreover, why is it that this faulty method of conducting business has not changed over the years.

What bothers me….Where is the market for these products? If a company is offering to pay $6.00 for a single assembled earring, what profit could they be making by selling it… and at what price? The product in question is not some expensive or precious jewelry that will sell at higher rates but a simple bead Item that can hope to sell for a few dollars only. A look at the market prices for such a product will reveal that this is an unrealistic projection. Moreover, looking at some of the work, you wonder who ever would want to buy such things. They are vague items, in most cases.

Why do they charge so much for the start-up-kit when the supplies sent are often worked just 1/10 of that price? However, if it is indeed worth the price, why offer to refund this money only after three to four accepted batches? Why not Refund this money right after the first finished batch.

Assembling the products is not easy. The crafts require artisanship, including the seemingly simple ones such as the bookmarks. Andy yet, We find that most of the product assembling web sites project that this is, in fact, a very simple job and you can make hundreds of dollars every week without any experience. From the experiences of people who have done this job we know that the opposite is true. To make you believe that there is no special skill required is a falsified claim. You have to work hard on getting the product- just right. Practice is required.
The Misleading Sales copies of the web sites make you wonder why is it that they are trying SO HARD to sell you the concept of product assembly. They sound like any other web site trying to sell you a product.
Shouldn’t they actually give a real picture and try to get as many skilled and genuine workers to apply? If they are indeed running a business of craft enterprise then they should be more concerned with Hiring the Talented craftsman rather than focusing on selling their Startup kit To as many people as possible.

How many people Can you find who have made an income from these companies over the past few years? Why is it that so many warnings exist from all different quarters over the internet? Why do they claim cutting costs by hiring independent contractor when the same can be done, and better, By Hiring people locally? Hiring People locally to work for you saves time and makes for a more organized business. They can actually supervise and control the business exactly. A If dozen good crafters could manage the job far better than having hundreds of amateurs apply.
Every business needs to have a balanced demand and supply equation. The only way to manage it is to control and supervise the production. On the other hand, maybe they DO supervise the production after all… by rejecting the batches for any good for nothing reason!

What bothers me….What kind of our business of a company hires people constantly? Many assembling companies claim to be in business since 1990. That makes it almost twenty years of being in business. Yet they have never stopped with selling-start-up-kits to People. Don’t positions ever get filled up? Perhaps one of the reasons why they reject so many people and their work is that they cannot accept any more products and yet are not willing to stop profiting from selling their start-up-kits.

As mentioned before there are several respectable institutions and web sites that warn against the home assembly business. Why would they do that if there was not a justified cause to it.
Why is it that you can never find a group of people that has been making money and earning from home by doing product assembly? Hardly anyone ever comes forward with a statement that proves that they have indeed been successful with a home assembly job for a sustained period.

Why is the information given by most of the assembling companies so unclear? Most of them hide behind Post box addresses rather than list the real physical address where people can visit them and verify their existence?

Maybe if we are asked ourselves these questions we will come closer to having a clearer picture of product assembling jobs at home… once and for all.

Perhaps, the wise thing to do here is to stay away from product assembling if you can. If you want to have a real work at home experience with an equally real income potential then this does not seem to be the right opportunity. Any respectable job or business should not have so much controversy and doubt attached to it.

Crafting Scams – What It Takes To Become One

December 23rd, 2008 — 8:40am

How did craft assembling turn into a home based job scam from been the pastime, hobby and a popular work practice with so many households?
Every scam is usually born of certain circumstances existing in the society. A scam is most often is a means exploiting
the needs and desires of the people by someone who has adjudged the situation Clearly. Just like in the case of economics when the supply is not able to meet that demand, there is a void created. And it becomes fairly simple to take advantage of the vulnerabilities of people.
On other occasions a desire or wishful thinking is deliberately created through astute marketing tactics. But even so these desires are created to tap into a deep down inherent wish of common every day people.
Craft assembling scams are a part of the Money making and income based programs.
Money Making and Income Based programs need to fulfill certain requirements in order to escalate into scams.

Number one, The job has to be simple or at least so a person has to be led to believe.
Number two, It has to promise great monetary returns.
Number three, The work should touch of cord with people and they should want to do it.
Number four Experience should not be considered necessary.
Number five, Our work from home situation is considered ideal grounds for a home based scam for the reasons that internet affords anonymous and face less profiles of businesses.

You will most often be led to believe that the home business of assembling crafts is a rather simple one . Crafts to be assembled either requires only cutting by scissors and a little bit of sticking by glue or some basic sewing skills. For all the real craft assembling companies this is not true. The crafts are not all together simple to make and do take skill and patient to complete. In fact, most of the assemblers have to try more than one time in order to get approved. But it is quite easy to believe by reading misleading web sites that this could indeed be an extremely simple job. First condition of a scam is fulfilled.

As we have mentioned in another post of ours. The great tradition of craft and craft making that has endured over the past many years. People still are actively involved with making profits and doing artwork at home either as a form of a hobby or enterprise. It is a popular activity with several women to either be involved with artwork either as a business or just to make beautiful craft items for the home, kids or family and friends. Hence, It becomes an established fact that craft is indeed a popular pastime enjoyed by many.
Apart from the people who are already involved with craft making as a business enterprise it becomes an established fact that a large part of the population indulges in craft making as merely an activity, recreation, or a hobby. In this manner crafts making satisfies the 2nd requirement of a scam, that is, that the concept o which the scam is being based is already a popular one.

If you come across one of the plentiful web sites trying to sell you a list of craft making companies, You will probably get to read about how you can make hundreds and perhaps even thousands of dollars every week. Such web sites are the main culprits in making you believe that there is a lot of money to be made by simply assembling crafts at home. Nothing could be far from the truth. Craft making from home is merely a supplemental income. You are presented with this exaggerated information merely because they want to sell you there directory.
No matter how well advertised and where, Remember not to pay any one to receive a list of craft assembling companies. More than 90 percent of the companies listed in these directories are scams. The list is the same everywhere no matter what the different sales copies read.
You can read more about the actual income potential of craft making business from home in another post.
You are also made to believe several other falsified facts such as ones stating that you do not require any particular scale our experience in order to successfully assemble crafts at home. This is not true. Some of the most established and the very well known assembling companies have crafting products that do require some very delicate crafting skills from their assemblers.
Last of all, this work is home based. Which makes it all the more fitted to be a part of a scam scheme.
It is for these reasons that while craft assembling has its origins in a noble profession and a favorite pastime and mode of the creation and hobby, it has quickly degenerated into being strife with scams and fraudulent offers.
We hope to salvage some honest and true business and job offers from this mess. Please read more of our posts to get proper Guidance For Locating the real on based crafting companies.

Craft Assembling – A Great Tradition

December 22nd, 2008 — 11:25pm

Craft assembling from home jobs have been around for ages and yet there is speculation and doubt about its veracity.
That is never a good sign. It means that people have been scammed and there are not many who are in genuine employment with this work.
When was the last time you came across someone working with making crafts from home? I don’t know about you, but I have.
So what am I saying here…? Is it a scam? Is it a genuine home based work opportunity? One would hazard a guess that it mostly is a scam. Just like the data entry, typing from home, envelope stuffing and a host of other so called ‘opportunities’.
Home based craft making jobs have their origin in two different unequivocal facts.
One is that of a fondness commonly known to the women folk for making crafts at home involving sewing, embroidery, ornaments, quilting, clay modeling, crafting for home and kids etc.

The second is the very nature of the Internet itself.

Let us discuss the first one. The love of art and handicrafts.
This hobby or pastime has endured itself over the years and craft making remains a concurrent part of lifestyle in several households. Research reveals that arts and crafts endeavors, specially by woman, are an extremely popular phenomenon.
It also says that almost thirty percent of all entrepreneurships in the U.S. are women based and craft based businesses like sewing, toy making etc. is a significant and yet a marginalized part of this group. Before craft assembling as we know it today, came about, women have been in the craft making business for centuries. Quilting, knitting, toy making, making crafts for home and the kids and even pottery and sculpting are all part of the great craft making tradition. Can you think of a number that adequately makes up the list of crafts that are or can be made by the people? I cannot. There are craft fairs happening all over the country all the year round that are very popular. People flock to take part in these shows from all over this great nation. And buyers flock to them to pick up beautiful arts and crafts.
And do you know the best part about the craft making business? It is done by people who truly love to do what they do. Every Craft that is made by someone is made because that person enjoys Making it. Each craft shows the skill of the craft maker. So the bottom line is that craft making is indeed an extremely popular enterprise.
This popularity and the obvious love of the people for this activity triggered off craft assembling jobs. We do not know how, when and by whom this trend was started but we can say for sure if that in the beginning it was a legitimate enterprise. People did get jobs to make and assemble crafts for seasoned crafters. Sometimes a group of crafters got together to run a crafting business. It was common for women in a neighborhood to be making some very nice sewing crafts, quilting, creating ornaments for festivals, making scented candles and such. The place where I come from, embroidery is an age old tradition and employs thousands upon thousands of women as embroiderers by designers and dress makers. It is a beautiful embroidery style with several variations and a huge potential for diversity. It graces some of the most beautiful clothes made for casual wear, parties and weddings. It even adorns beautiful white linen for your house.
Some where along the line, someone figured out a way to make money from this on the internet. It has always been evident that crafting skills is something a lot of women at home possess. It is also something that a large number of them enjoys to do. And who doesn’t want to think they can make some extra money doing what they like to do?
Some one put these three simple facts together and Craft Assembling From Home was born.
Let us take Sewing Crafts for example. A lot of folks consider themselves to be good at it. A lot of folks ARE good at it. The same folks have done it all their lives or at least at sometime or the other. But does that mean that there are sewing jobs that they can get? No. Sewing jobs are difficult to get unless you are really good at it and happen to stay close to a factory. Most of the factory outfits hire people from close by and really don’t hire people to work from home from further away. They save time by not having to ship the materials, wait for the delivery of the finished goods and have no way of supervising the job.
But that does not stop people from wanting to have such crafting jobs. Going to craft fairs is difficult. Getting a stall costs money. You have to travel a lot. And then by the end of it make sure that you make enough sales to turn out a profit. So what if someone tell you that they are hiring people to work from home to make simple crafts?
You like the sound of it cause it sounds so perfect! You do not have to sell anything. Just make simple crafts right from your very home and ship the finished good to the company to get paid. You do not even have to step out of the house to buy the supplies, they ship it to you ( for a price, of course!). And are these things that anyone can do? Without any special skills? You know what, most of them are ( correction, that is what you are told!).
So what is your first reaction? You go ahead and send them the money for the supplies to assemble your first craft item for this craft assembling company. And the scam has begun! We shall not discuss how the scam works in this post. That is covered in another one. Read it though. You should have all the information possible before you start with any craft assembling company.
If you are wondering why is it that I am asking you to read up when all I am ending up conveying to you is that craft assembling is a scam? Not quiet true. I believe that there are some real companies out there. I have come across people who seem to be working for a couple of craft assembling companies that they are quiet satisfied with. Again, a discussion on these genuine and honest crafting companies is best left for another post. Here we are simply discussing the nature of the Craft Assembling jobs. Understand them better, know their history so that we are not victims of another home based job scam.
Remember what I said at the start? That the origin of Craft Assembling From Home lies in two different unequivocal facts and that the second one is the Internet?
Here is where the this second medium steps in. The two very significant characteristics of the internet is that it is tremendous in its scope of being universally far reaching and that of providing anonymity. At least from the every normal users.
What followed for sometime after that was something like a chain reaction, which could have only been possible on a medium like the Internet because its two aforementioned traits.
More and more companies started popping up on the Internet that paid you to assemble a variety of crafts. Till there were more than a 100 craft assembling companies. Most of the time there were no addresses mentioned, just P.O. Box addresses. No one knew where there money was going except for the city and name of the state in the great U.S. and there was no easy way to find out.
And frankly, most of these items just did not make any sense. Getting paid to assemble craft items that you could not imagine any one buying from anyone. But nobody wanted to think about that as you were not the one who had to sell. This continued for a while till people started loosing money and these same companies started dropping out of the limelight.
And that is how the situation stands today. No one knows what is real and what is fake when it come to assembling
crafts job offers. Or maybe you do. Do you? If you do, please post your comments on this post. We would love to hear from you and so would our readers.

I Have To Pay? Its A Scam!

December 18th, 2008 — 6:40pm

The first contention that we have to deal with is whether product assembling from home is a real home based employment opportunity or not.
It is and it is not. Meaning to say that this line of work is also strife with scams as with most of other home based work employment opportunities. You need to sift through them and discover the real gems from the fakes.
We are here to help with that.

So there is a start up cost and you do need to pay. In most of the cases you will need to purchase a starting kit from the assembling company to get started with making your first batch of products. This kit contains the raw materials that are required to assemble the product along with detailed instructions. One or two products, I believe, also come with an instruction video. This is something you need to clarify with the product assembling company.

You finish making your batch, send it along, wait for it to be approved and you get paid along with the reimbursement of shipping fee.
Most of the product assembling companies claim to refund your money after you finish your second batch of products.

“So why do I have to buy the raw materials from the company and pay them for it?”, you may ask.
We figure the following explanation to be true, for the real and genuine product assemble companies, that is. When you take on the job to assemble a certain product for someone from home, you need to make the product up to the specifications and same as their original product. There is no accurate way of determining you use the right raw materials in terms of color, fabric, pattern, shape etc. apart from sending you the raw material yourself.
Some companies, however, allow you to buy your own supplies after you have successfully completed your first batch and have gained an ideas as to what you need to make the product right. These companies are our favorites as allowing the home worker to buy his / her own supply is a great sign that the company is doing honest work and not trying to scam people into sending them money on the pretext of buying supplies.
Clarify this detail from the assembling company when you speak with them.

Also if the comapany is providing the raw materials at the same price as the market, you might as well purchase it from them as then there will be less chances of the assembled product not meeting specification due to incorrect raw material.

Now, coming to the home assembly scams. Over 90% of the companies and the work offers are scams in our estimation and the general estimation by everyone else. Some are even of the opinion that they are all scams and not one assemble product company provides a genuine work at home employment.
We believe different. We believe that there are people working for some of the very few product assembling companies. You can search the popular home based work blogs and forums to find these people yourself. One such forum that has a lot of people working in various crafting capacities is www.wahm.com/forum/ . you can meet and discuss things with a lot of people there. But do come back and post your findings here as well!

How the product assembling scams work is this. They employ the practice of rejecting the work sent in by the person who has assembled their product. As mentioned before, you have to purchase a starter kit from the company to start that contains the raw materials and instructions. Now what they charge for the first starter kit either has some registration charges also added or the worth of the raw material is much less than what they charge you for it. You buy this kit, finish assembling the product and send it back for approval. If the company is a scam your product will never get approved no matter how carefully and accurately you have made it.
It is also natural for your product to get rejected by a legit company but these usually send the work back with explanations and description as to why your assembled item did not meet the quality check and give you a chance to fix it. The scams usually just inform you that since you could not make the first batch accurately, they have deemed you to be unsuited to work for them and have cancelled your subscription.

How to distinguish the Product Assembling Scams from the Genuine Assemble At Home offer?

That is not too difficult. You just need to be practical.
Do you know why scams are so widespread? And successful? They take advantage of the human psyche. They take advantage of the desperate and the needful. That is perhaps the most despicable part about work from home scams. People who fall prey to them and end up loosing money are in fact the ones that need an income the most and really can’t afford to loose any to a scam.
There are also those who are looking for a get rich quick scheme without doing much hard work. But these do not fit the profile of home assembly job scams. They mostly fall for scams like data entry, home typing, form filling, envelope stuffing, ad posting etc.

Would you trust a person you met enough to give him money if you never met him, spoke to him, knew where he lived or his / her phone number?
The answer is “No”. Apply the same rules to any company that you are intending to work with.
1. Do not send any money to a company that is vague about the work involved.
2. Do not trust P.O. Box addresses. You do not know where your money is going. Deal only with real address with a Building number and a street name.
3. Do not deal with any company you cannot communicate with thoroughly. Speak to someone at customer care over a phone number and clarify ALL details like work involved, refund policy, income potential etc.
4. If the company is not able to satisfy all your queries to your satisfaction, move away. Trust your instinct.
5. Check the companies credentials the best you can.
6. Find 5 other people who are working for that company. That is not a hard thing, believe me. Genuine home based companies and product assembling companies are rare. So if there is a genuine one out there, you will not have finding people working for them, if not in person then on forums on the internet.

Follow these few simple guidelines to avoid product assembling scams. We also keep researching the product assembling offer and keep doing write ups on our findings.

How Much Can You Earn From Product Assembly

December 18th, 2008 — 6:31pm

How much can you earn with product assembling at home? This question is important as it will help you decide whether you want to do this work from home or not.
If you come across websites trying to sell you a directory of product assembling companies, do not believe their claims. They want to sell you their information and give you a very exaggerated version of what you can earn if you assemble products at home.
Do not believe that you will make lots of money doing this work. You will probably not be making thousands of dollars a week doing this work.
To start with, one tends to get the impression that assembling products at home jobs are simple and quick. Some of them are simple, no doubt but they are tedious.
Finishing each batch takes time. It is common not to be able to finish more than one batch in a week, regardless of what the product is. There are three main reasons for this:

1) You need to assemble the products with meticulous care as they have to be exactly as the company wants them to be. This is important if you want the finished batch to be approved by the company and be paid for it. Otherwise the batch might be sent back to you, which means that you have to spend more time fixing it and having to buy more raw materials in the case where you need to redo them completely. So as you are going to be working carefully to get them just right, the going will be slower than usual.

2) You might feel that the simple assembly products such as bookmarks, bracelets etc. are quick to make. You are right. They probably are. But the reason why you will not be doing more than one batch a week is because the ‘quantity’ of the product will be more. While there might be half a dozen pieces that make a complete batch for a sewing project for stuffed toys, a assembly product like Bookmarks will have more than 30 pieces that will make a complete finished batch. So simpler the product to assemble, the more the number of items to be made.

3) The way the whole process works, making more than one batch a week is not feasible. When you finish assembling the complete batch of the item, you need to ship it to the company for approval. The post takes a few days to reach, it takes the company a couple of days to approve your batch and a couple more to make your payment. Add a couple of more days for the next project to arrive by mail if you are buying your supplies from the company itself.
So from the point of you starting to assemble your first batch of product, to getting paid for it and beginning your second one, it is a duration of several days.
You can clarify this procedure with the assemble company that you are intending to work with.

In most of the cases expect to make a supplemental income from the work of assembling products from home. This too depends a lot on the area that you stay in. E.g. if you are staying in New York, making $700 a month can only be thought of as a secondary income. But staying in a smaller town, this money could take you further in terms of fulfilling your needs.
What we consider important for doing product assembling from home is having a natural love for making crafts from home. A lot of people have time have time and enjoy this sort of work.
You can mix it up for yourself. You could me making toys one month and jewelry the other. But as it takes time to get approved and also to get proficient with making a product we recommend that you take this process slowly and gradually. Do not spread yourself out too thin.

You need to be persistent with your efforts. Do not get the impression that this job does not take time or effort. It takes both. It is not a get rich opportunity. It will only provide you with a supplemental income.
In our estimation, as some one beginning with this work, you should be able to make about $500 a month. But this is only an estimation. Clarify the details with the company you intend to work for. They are the best people to give you a clear picture.

Caution Before You Assemble

December 2nd, 2008 — 11:57pm

This post is being written to emphasise what I have been saying all along. You will find a lot posts and websites calling Product Assembly a scam. This is not entirely untrue. We figure that a majority of the assembling companies might be a scam.

But this is not where the scam begins. The scam really begins when you come across websites who are trying to sell you the list of product assembling companies for the price of several dollars anywhere from $20 -$50. These websites are not in any way affiliated with the list of companies they provide and the fine print reads that they are not responsible for your dealings with them. They are also not to be held accountable for your success or failure. They offer no support of any kind. But their websites will do their best to convince you that this is a genuine work from home opportunity. So that they can sell you the list of companies and then wash their hands of you. We list it for free because that is how it should be.

We have been looking in to product assembling for a long time. It is difficult to come to a hard and fixed conclusion about whether this work is a scam or not. A lot of people have called it so. And then we come across people who are happily and successfully working for a select few assembling firms.

WE URGE YOU TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Do not believe in any money back guarantees as they are all bogus. We have written a complete post about this. When it comes to work from home programs, the guarantees are only offered as a means of convincing you to buy from or join their program. They have no intention of relenting easily when it comes giving you your money back.

Make sure you have communicated with the company before you contemplate sending them any money. Trust the companies that list a physical address of their company and not a P.O. Box address.

All the better businesses will have a phone number for you to call and actually call and speak to a representative about the job.

We have written a post in which we have included the companies that meet this criteria.

Please do not get tempted to send money to a copmany without having managed to get in touch with them.

We understand that you might be eager to get work and wish to start as soon as possible. But we strongly recommend patience. There is no point in you getting scammed in to sending money to a fraudulent enterprise.
There are some companies that even have a dedicated customer care for you to call up on and get additional information. Deal with companies of this kind as much as possible.

There is a part of us that wants to believe in an opportunity. We want to work and earn money. We know the honest way of doing this. But there are so many out there who make it through dishonest means. Specially when it comes work from home programs. Do not believe with out a reason. If your gut instinct tells you a prospect is doubtful, it just might be.

The legitimate work from home opportunities have nothing to hide and will never conceal any details from you. Be it about details of the kind of work you are supposed to do or their own organisation.

The point of this website is to help you. We do not want you to spend precious money buying the list of product assembling companies which is the kind of information that should be available for free. And secondly, we want to hear from YOU whether these companies are found to be genuine or not. Please post your comments and let us know. Let us make the work from home community a more honest and a better culture.

Good luck.
